If convicted by the panel of
three judges in Vancouver, Mr.
Collins could be fined.
The case revolves around a
column, "Hollywood Propagan-
da," that Collins wrote in 1994 for
the Vancouver newspaper North
Shore News, which has a circula-
tion of about 60,000.
In his column, Mr. Collins dis-
missed the accepted figure of six
million Jews killed in the Holo-
caust as "nonsense," and sug-
gested the total was more like
"hundreds of thousands."

Murder Suspects
Are Detained
Jerusalem (JTA) — An Israeli
court has authorized the contin-
ued custody of a Palestinian man
and woman suspected of in-
volvement in the murder of an
Arab land dealer who sold land
to Jews.
The body of 70-year-old Farid
Bashiti of east Jerusalem was
found in the Palestinian self-rule
town of Rarnallah and was turned
over by the Palestinian Authori-
ty to Israeli forensic experts.
An autopsy showed that Mr.
Bashiti had been beaten, and his
skull crushed.
The murder followed a Pales-
tinian Authority decision that
selling land to Jews was an of-
fense punishable by death. Israeli
investigators said they suspect-
ed that Palestinian security
agents could have been involved
in the murder.
