babysat during Shabbat services
at Temple Israel and donated
funds to the American Cancer So-
ciety as part of her mitzvah pro-
jects. Emily attends Orchard Lake
Middle School and is interested
in tap and jazz dancing, playing
the flute and skiing.

Michael Aaron Ruben of Okemos
will be bar mitzvah at Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek in East Lans-
ing on Saturday, May 24. Rabbi
Morton Hoffman and Cantor
Bruce Wetzler will lead services.
Participating in the ceremony
will be Michael's parents, Mari-
lyn and Douglas, and his sister
Jennifer. His grandparents Belle
and Chuck Ruben and Ed and
Pauline Kender will attend. A lun-
cheon will be held at Shaarey
Zedek immediately after services.
Michael is a seventh-grader at
Chippewa Middle School and at-
tends Hebrew school at Shaarey
Zedek. He plays violin, piano and
is a student at Blue Lakes Fine
Arts Camp. His hobbies are dra-
ma and Civil War history.

Lisa Adina Ackerson of Flint will
celebrate her bat mitzvah at Con-
gregation Beth Israel on Satur-
day, May 24. Rabbi Paul Reis and
Cantor Sholom Kalib will lead ser-
vices.
Participating in the service will
be Lisn's parents, Brian and Sheri,
and brother Michael. Grandpar-
ents Elinor and Morton Trotsky
of West Bloomfield and Leonard
Ackerson of Woodmere, N.Y., also
will participate.
A party will be held in Lisa's hon-
or at Congregation Beth Israel.
Lisa is an honor roll student at
Carman-Ainsworth Junior High
and attends Hebrew school at the
Ivriah. Lisa was a member of the
seventh-grade girls basketball
team as well as the volleyball
team and enjoys most sports.
