Memorial Day
Services Set

Memorial Day services for the
Michigan Jewish War Veterans
and Ladies Auxiliary will in-
clude the Jewish War Veterans
of the Royal Canadian Legion
and Jewish Veterans from the
Soviet Union 10 a.m. Sunday,
May 25, at he veterans' section
of Machpelah Cemetery, 21503
Woodward, Ferndale, followed
by a second service noon at He-
brew Memorial Park Cemetery,
21503 E. 14 Mile Road, Mt.
Clemens.
Cantor Max Shimansky of
Beth Achim Synagogue will sing
the memorial prayers with
members of the JWV Honor
Guard offering a rifle salute to
the fallen; students form neigh-
boring Ferndale High School
will present taps at Machpelah.
Services are open to the pub-
lic with friends and relatives of
deceased veterans urged to at-
tend. Refreshments will be
served following the. Hebrew
Memorial Park service.

Cardozo
Society Meets

Reservations are available for
the first Cardozo Society meet-
ing noon Friday, June 6, at the
Skyline Club, Southfield.
Sponsored by the Jewish Fed-
eration of Metropolitan Detroit's
Community Outreach and Ed-
ucation Department, the soci-
ety provides legal professionals
with opportunities for Jewish
learning, involvement and net-
working.
Topic for the luncheon, "Jew-
ish Law and End of Life Issues,"
will be discussed by Rabbi E.B.
Freedman, director of Jewish
hospice services at the Hospice
of Southeastern Michigan, and
David Techner, director,
Ira Kaufman Chapel. U.S. Dis-
trict Court Judge Bernard A.
Friedman will moderate the
program.
There is a charge of $20 per
person for dairy lunch. Kosher
meals will be available on re-
quest, accompanied by pay-
ment. Reservation deadline is
Friday, May 30. For informa-
