BACK IN 1977, Mike
Nash and Marty Tuchman,
friends since their Wayne
State University days, bought the
40-seater B's Bar in downtown
Rochester ... and opened a restau-
rant together.
Today, that first Mr. B's seats
400 ... Their chain has gone from
six employees and sales in the
$250,000 annual range ... to 1,300
employees chain-wide and cashier
tickets amounting to over $32 mil-
lion yearly.
There are presently 15 Mr. B's
locations (including two Monter-
rey Cantinas, in Rochester and
Royal Oak, Memphis Smoke of
West Bloomfield and Royal Oak,
Spectadium and Mr. B's Pub at
the original Rochester location,
now with a spacious roof-top pa-
tio).
All are celebrating Mr. B's 20th
anniversary through May.
Customers can win a variety of
prizes ... including the use of a new
Jeep Grand Cherokee for two
years, Caribbean cruise for two,
a sports package with half-season
tickets to see the Pistons and the
Red Wings, 10 stereo VCRs, 10
compact disc players, 40 Walk-
man radios, 87 Mr. B's $25 gift
certificates, and an all-expense-
paid week in Hell (Michigan, that
is).

ABSOLUTELY NO truth to
the very far-fetched rumor that
Ron Forman has sold the Bread
Basket Deli in Oak Park's Lincoln
Center ... and is working for the
supposed new owners.
Fact is that he plans to celebrate
his 30th anniversary in Novem-
ber of 1999.
Rumor probably got started be-
cause of the help shortage ... and
Ron having to reset his hours at
the Bread Basket ... which some
folks might have thought was
done by the phantom new owners.
It is still open Tuesday through
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and
Sunday 10 to 8 ... But Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday, dining

open only for carry-out ... But this
doesn't mean folks can't go to the
counter, get whatever they want
and sit down to eat.
Just no servers on these days ...
A fellow walks around, though,
and fills coffee mugs.

tuxedoed guys and fine-gowned
gals let their hair down to terpsi
