Robert Slatkin
Slatkin is a past president of the
Jewish Federation's Junior Divi-
sion, forerunner of the Young
Adult Division.
Nominated with Mr. Slatkin
were Susan Citrin, Oscar H. Feld-
man, Mark Hauser, Donald Lan-
sky and Jane Sherman, vice
presidents; Stacey Crane, trea-
surer; Robert P. Aronson, secre-
tary; and Leo Eisenberg, Yale
Levin and Diane Perlman, at-
large board members.
Guest speaker at the meeting
will be Richard Joel, executive di-
rector of Hillel International and
president of the Foundation for
Jewish Campus Life. New en-
dowment donors will be recog-
nized and officers and board
members elected.
Registration deadline is
Wednesday, May 28. There is a
$15 per person charge for the pro-
gram and reception.

Needs Volunteers

Volunteers are being sought to
help out at the Incredible Israel
Fest and Walk for Israel Sunday,
June 1, at Maple-Drake.
Volunteer tasks include set-up;

Ahmed will discuss "A Fragile Al-
liance: The Evolving Relationship
Between Detroit's Arabs and
Jews" at the Jewish Community
Council's annual meeting 7:30
p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
Mr. Ahmed is executive direc-
tor of ACCESS, the Arab Com-
munity Center for Economic and
Social Services. The program will
feature outgoing Council Presi-
dent Allan Zemmol, as he marks
the end of his term. Council's elec-
tion of officers and directors and
the presentation of the Walter E.
Klein Youth Awards will also
take place.
Howard I. Wallach has been
nominated as council president.
Vice presidential nominees are
Robert Brown, Elaine Driker and
Kathleen Straus. Betsy Winkel-
man is nominated as secretary
and Gary Torgow as treasurer.
Slated to fill three-year terms
on the board of directors are Nan-
cy Welber Barr, James Bellinson,
Ilene Chalt, Daniel Cherrin, Bar-
bara Cook, Gary Faber, Linda
Finkel, Ethan Gilan, Laurence R.
Imerman, Austin Kanter, Bar-
bara Levin, Richard Nodel,
Bertram M. Schreiber, Michael
Traison, David P. Weiss and Ann
Zousmer. Nominee for a two-year
term is Debbie Levin; one-year
term nominee is Jerry Goldberg.
