MAX FISHER has made a $1.5
million endowment to establish
the Fisher-Bernstein Institute
for Leadership Development in
Jewish Philanthropy at Bran-
deis University. The institute
has been named in honor of Max
Fisher and Irving Bernstein, a
veteran Jewish community pro-
fessional who was the executive
vice chairman of the United
Jewish Appeal from 1969 to
1984.

MICKI BERG of Huntington
Woods was recently honored for
academic excellence as a gradu-
ate scholar in the School of Ed-
ucation at the University of
Michigan-Dearborn. The Uni-
versity recognized Ms. Berg for
having a distinguished academ-
ic record. She is the corporate
training manager for the W W
Group Inc., the largest franchise
of Weight Watchers Internation-
al. She is planning to pursue a
doctorate degree in education
with a major in organizational
behavior.

CHRISTINA COPPOLA, the
two Michigan producers, have re-
cently won a Cable Ace award
sponsored by the National Cable
Television Academy. The video
For Those We Remember, LaDor
Va Dor Generation to Generation
tells the horror story of many lo-
cal Holocaust survivors. The
video also has been nominated
for a Beacon Award sponsored by
the Cable Television Public Af-
fairs Association.

BERNICE GERSHENSON of
Bloomfield Hills will receive an
honorary doctor of humane let-
ters degree from Wayne State
University for her involvement
in numerous civic organizations
in the Detroit area.

The Young Israel of Oak Park
Sisterhood will have its annual
spring luncheon and fashion
show noon Sunday, May 11, at
the shul. The event will feature
both adult and children's fash-
ions.
Reservations are required and
there is a fee for the lunch. Pro-
ceeds from this fund raiser have
been designated for an adopted
sisterhood in the settlement of
Neve Aliza in the Shomron, Is-
rael.

Thursday, May 15, at Congrega-
tion Beth Achim.
Plans for the June 19 installa-

General Hospital will speak on
