Institute for Jewish-Christian Studies is a not-for-profit educational
organization devoted to improving Judeo-Christian relationships.
The Institute provides an environment for academic study and
individual involvement though its !UMW programs, resource library
and media center and study tours to Israel.
The Institute conducts its annual Church-Synagogue Tour to view
Roman Catholic, Protestant and Jewish houses of worship and to
meet with the clergy of each.

DAVID AGAUAS, 73, of Oak
Park, died Jan. 22. He served
in the Navy during World War
II in the Pacific Theater. He
was in the scrap metal busi-
ness for 50 years.
Mr. Agauas is survived by
his wife, Edith; sons and
daughters-in-law, Michael of
Pontiac, Alan and Marcie of
Walled Lake, Faith Agauas;
daughter and son-in-law, Deb-

NEWTON ARNOLD, 69, for-
mer Detroiter of Sagus, Calif.,
died Jan. 12. He attended Cen-
tral High School and Wayne
State University. He served in
the Navy in World War II. In
Detroit, he worked for the De-
troit Times and Progressive
Linen Company. In the south-
ern California area, he was a
publisher of telephone directo-
ries famous for celebrity cov-
ers.
He is survived by his sons
and daughters-in-law, Jerry
and Michelle, Malcolm and
Danusha, Robert; seven grand-
children; brothers and sisters-
in-law, Daniel and Emily,
Raphael and Flo.
Services were held at Mt.
Sinai Memorial Park, Los An-

DAVID BAUM:HAFT, 42, of
Northville, died Jan. 26. Mr.
Baumhaft was a sales execu-
tive in the mortgage business.

and Michael Letzer. He was
the loving son of the late Helen

LILLY FELDMAN, 89, of
Southfield, died Jan. 22.
Mrs. Feldman is survived by
her husband of 72 years, Sam;
son and daughter-in-law, Dr.
Murray and Barbara of South-
field; five grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren.

DR. MERYL M. FENTON,
88, of Farmington Hills, died
Jan. 25. Dr. Fenton was an al-
lergist who had a private prac-
tice for 60 years. He was a
1931 graduate of Wayne State
University Medical School, a
pediatric resident at Buffalo
Children's Hospital and had a
teaching fellowship in allergies
and infectious diseases at the
University of Michigan. Dr.
Fenton was board certified in
pediatrics and allergy.
He served in the U.S. Army
Medical Corps during World
War II and was discharged as
a major. He also served in
West French Africa for four
years.
Dr. Fenton was past presi-
dent and a past public relations
chairman of the Michigan Al-
lergy Society and held member-
ships in the American College
of Allergy and Immunology and
also the Academy of Allergy
and Immunology.
Dr. Fenton is survived by
his wife, Ruth; sons and
daughters-in-law, Dr. Stuart
and Raylene of Farmington
Hills, Jerome and Geraldine of
West Bloomfield; daughter,
Glorianne Siporin of Sherman
Oaks, Calif.; grandchildren,
Jeffrey and Bonnie Fenton, Dr.
