Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute will host three Elderhostel sessions during the
Spring of 1997 as part of the international Elderhostel program. Choose from
a wide variety of topics including Traveling Through Jewish Time, Jewish

The Metro Detroit Bowling As-
sociation of Jewish Women In-
ternational will host the annual
Tri-Regional Bowling Tourna-
ment Saturday and Sunday,
Feb. 1-2 and Feb. 8-9.
The tournament will be held
at Novi Bowl, with 120 Detroit
bowlers participating the first
weekend and 160 from Chicago,
Milwaukee, Minneapolis and St.
Paul participating the second
weekend.
Headquarters for the Feb. 8-
9 events will be the Holiday Inn
in Livonia, and will include an
Oneg Shabbat and an awards
banquet.
Hallie Serling of Detroit is
president and general chairman
of the tournament.

Israel Maccabiah
Seeks Players
Teen-age basketball players
born in 1981, 1982 and 1983 are
eligible to try out for the U.S.
Maccabiah junior basketball
team that will compete in Israel
July 5-25 at the 15th World
Maccabiah Games.
Applicants must try out at ei-
ther Wayne (N.J.) Valley High
School March 29-30 or at the
Westside Jewish Community
Center in Los Angeles March 1-
2.
The 11 teens chosen for the
team will have their trip to Is-
rael fully funded.

named to coach U.S. squads at
the World Maccabiah Games in
Israel.
Mike Hartman of West
Bloomfield, a member of the
1994 Stanley Cup champion
New York Rangers who is play-
ing this year for the American
Hockey League's Hershey Bears,
was named head coach of the
U.S. hockey team. It marks the
first time that hockey will be
played at the World Maccabiah.
Joel Kashdan of Southfield,
longtime coach of Detroit's teen
Maccabi track team, has been
named head coach of the U.S.ju-
nior track team for the World
Maccabiah.
