JACQUES L. MOSS, 79, of

Southfield, died Jan. 17.
Mr. Moss was a graduate of
the University of Michigan, a
certified professional engineer
and a member of the engineer-
ing society. During World War
H, he worked for GM, designing
army tanks. He then worked
for Ford Motor Company for 27
years, inventing a retractable
parking mechanism for Ford on
which he held the patent. In
1954, he invented Kiddiegard, a
safety device for baby cribs. Mr.
Moss was a member of B'nai
B'rith Morgenthau L'Chaim
Lodge, Maurice Zeiger Chapter
of Motor City Lodge, Autobohn
Society, Smithsonian Institute,
Founders Society of the Detroit
Institute of Arts and the Na-
tional Geographic Society. He
was a member of Congregation
B'nai Moshe and the Down-
town Synagogue. Mr. Moss was
an artist, Civil War buff and a
gardener.
He is survived by his wife,
Shirley of Southfield; son and
daughter-in-law, Anthony and
Sue Moss of Philadelphia;
