The exhibit features authen-
tic clothing, diaries and photos of
women from 1880-1920. An entire
wall is devoted to local photos of
women, along with many cher-
ished artifacts. A 1891 wedding

displayed. The ivory silk wedding
gown worn by Hattie M. Ober-

Franklin is featured. (Mr.
Franklin subsequently became the
rabbi of Temple Beth El.)
Some of the other interesting
items are Sarah Wetsman's
1908 graduation photo from Cen-
tral High School, which was the
Old Main building on Cass; a pho-
to of Hilda Kaplan Krasnick of
Holly (Dulcie Rosenfeld's grand-
mother), and Sarah Stiebel's
recipe for no-knead challah.
A patron preview party, which
was presented by Jaguar of Troy
and Neiman Marcus, was recent-
ly held at the museum. Judith
Cantor, who coordinated all the
archives, was pleased with the ex-
hibit. "It's wonderful to see Jew-
ish women represented from all
over Michigan, from Traverse City
to Detroit," she said.
The "Becoming American" com-
mittee members include Maggie
Dulcie Rosenfeld and Mary Lou Zieve, "Becoming American Women" committee
co-chairpersons.
