Oak Park native
Joshua Bergasse is back
home performing the role of
Baby John, which he originated
last year at the Fisher Theatre
in the 40th anniversary produc-
tion of West Side Story.
This Mme, the show's at the
Detroit Opera House through
Nov. 24, and Bergasse has just
been promoted to dance captain
of the troupe. As dance captain,
Bergasse is responsible for
knowing and teaching all
the dance parts to each veteran
and new cast member in the
show.
"Josh grew up dancing," his
mother Annette, of Annette &
Co. Dance Studio in Farmington
Hills, says proudly. "He taught
at the studio from the time he
was 16 to age 21, when he left
for the tour. What's really excit-
ing is every night at the theater,
he's just inundated with past
students and families who know
him. The kids went crazy when
they saw him."
