just great (guaranteed, your chil-
dren will love them) in this sto-
ry about a team who can fix
broken helicopters, get rid of
ticks and even dry toes. And all
you have to do is call 4 Pups
and a Worm.
Mr. Seltzer, who both wrote
and illustrated the book, said
the book's theme is "be-
ing of service, doing
mitzvahs." Best of all,
it's a lot of fun.
If you loved Sam-I-Am and the
Cat In The Hat and the Pop
who got hopped on, and
you're itching for a
new Dr. Seuss, here's
good news in the
form of four pups and
a worm.
Although the real
Dt Seuss, Ted Geisel,
is no longer alive, he
has his able successors,
like Detroit-area native
Eric Seltzer.
The illustrations are
novative and most are easy
enough that just about any 4-
year-old could fix them (with
help from a parent to turn on
the oven). Don't miss these
recipes: Baby Animal Mash, a
fruit dish the cookbook authors
guarantee little guys and dolls
will love, "and they also like to
throw it around"; Cold Dog,
made of cookies and sugar and
chocolate ("Do you want to
make people laugh? Take your
Cold Dog for a walk."), and
Miss Mousy, a mouse-shaped
cake with peaches that authors
advise setting beside mom's
nightstand, then "I bet she'll
run through the house scream-
ing!"
My only complaint with this
cookbook is that it's challeng-
ing to read. Each recipe is
printed in six languages. Often,
English is the most prominent,
but it's going to take a few min-
utes to figure out exactly
where you should start. Still,
This is the most fun-to-
look-at cookbook
you've ever seen, pro-
duced by a Holland-
based company best
known for its children's
wear (locally, you'll find
an Oilily store at the
Somerset
Collection in Troy.)
Yummy is bright
and colorful, filled
with pictures of
smiling babies in
chef hats, polar
bears with ice cream
atop their heads,
parrots standing on
cheese slices and
cheerful, apron-clad
moms from the
1950s holding over-
sized red mush-
rooms.
