stitution have confidence in me,"
Mr. Davidoff said. Mr. Berke and
Federation Executive Vice Pres-

years ago, following in the foot-
steps of his father Albert, who
worked for Israel Bonds. His 26-
year-old son Mark recently com-
pleted the circle when he joined
Federation as a Campaign asso-
ciate.
"Obviously, there's a Berke
love for the Federation," Michael
Berke laughed.
After a few years in the now-
defunct Mercantile and Food di-
visions at Federation, Mr. Berke
became the executive director at
Hillel Day School, returning af-
ter nearly four years to assume
the position of administrative as-
sistant to former Campaign di-
rector Sol Drachler. He's been
back ever since.
Mr. Berke figures he's helped
to raise hundreds of millions of
dollars for Federation over the
past few decades.
After Mr. Berke's departure in

sorb as much information as I can
in anticipation of Michael's de-
parture. Michael is almost an in-
stitution. We're lucky he's
consented to let us be his first
client. We will need him in his
new capacity for years to come,"
Mr. Davidoff said.
Moving into the position of
chief financial officer is Dorothy
Benyas, now manager of gener-
al accounting.
Mr. Berke said he's been con-
sidering a move for the past three
or four years.
When he made it official, his
colleagues were not happy, "but
they were happy for me," he ad-
mitted.
`This is something that is very
important for me. If I didn't do it
now, who knows? The timing is
very right for me. I still am able
to maintain a very close rela-
tionship with the Federation, one
that excites me and gives me the
opportunity to pursue some dif-
ferent challenges." ❑
