sical show who specializes in
stringed instruments such as the
mandolin and guitar; on April 13,
Fran Avni, who sings fun-filled
songs and does movement activ-
ities; and June 8, PuppetArt, a
troupe of puppet masters from the
former Soviet Union.

Oct. 24 Program
Honors Rabin

Adat Shalom Synagogue will host
a community-wide event to mark
the Jewish calendar anniversary
of the death of Yitzhak Rabin, 7:30
p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.
The program will include a cer-
emony to honor the life and mem-
ory of the slain prime minister,
with memorial prayers, words of
Torah and a documentary film
about his life: Rabin: 1922-1995,
Soldier in the Army of Peace. A
representative of the Michigan/Is-
rael Connection will speak.

Megillah Class
At Beth Achim

The Cultural Commision of Con- (L.
gregation Beth Achim is offering
a class on reading the Megillah
Esther.
The class, taught by ritual di-
rector Joseph Baras, will meet at
the synagogue on Sunday morn-
ings at 9:30 a.m.
There is no charge for the class.

Jewish Community Council's cal-
endar secretary, Michael Daitch,
will continue to take phone in-
quiries for calendar scheduling.
Betsy Winkelman, chair of the
newly formed Jewish Communi-
ty liaison Committee, recently ap-
pointed a calendar subcommittee
to review and revise guidelines for
use of the Community Calendar.
