The Labor Zionist Family (Labor
Zionist Alliance, Labor Zionist In-
stitute, Na'amat/USA and Habon-
im/Dror) will have an afternoon
discussion with Jeff Kaye, com-
munity shaliach.
The topic of the discussion will
be "Israel: The Impact of the Re-
ligious Right." The event will be
held 2 p.m. Sunday, in Morris L.

YAD To Hear
Political Panel

Jewish Federation's Young Adult
Division (YAD) election program,
"Confront the Issues," will be held
7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in
Shiffinan Hall at the Maple-Drake
Jewish Community Center.
Channel 7 news reporter Mike
Huckman will moderate a panel
consisting of Jim Alexander, three-
time Oakland County Republican
Party chairman; Larry Owen, for-
mer gubernatorial candidate; and
Edward Sarpolus, media pollster.
Admission is free. Reservations
are required by Monday, Oct. 14.

10-Week Classes
On Mysticism

Bais Chabad Torah Center will
have two parallel classes on Jew-
ish mysticism on Sunday and
Thursday mornings, beginning
Oct. 13 and 17.
The 10-week classes will ex-
amine the nature of God, reincar-
nation, Jewish belief in • the
afterlife and other issues.
The text used will be Tanya.
Knowledge of Hebrew is helpful
but not necessary. To register, call

Robert Cantor

Jerusalem. The tribute, under the
auspices of the Jewish National
Fund, has been funded by Robert's
parents, Barbara and Larry Can-
tor, and sisters Susie, Wendy,
Nancy, Jody and Marcy.
A native of Farmington Hills,
the late Mr. Cantor, who died this
year, worked as a masseur at the
Kiva Retreat House in Santa
Cruz, Calif. He also worked at the
Well Within and had a private
massage practice.

AZM Installs
Ann Barnett

The American Zionist Movement
Michigan Region installed new
officers Oct. 8, at the Agency for
Jewish Education.
Ann Barnett will serve as the
new president, Zvi Strom is vice-
president, Sara Schiff is treasur-
er, and Roz Bressler is
administrative assistant.
Committee chairpersons for
the 1996-97 year will be Adele
Bayer, Harmon Bayer, Hymie
Cutler, Helen Naimark, Norman
Naimark, Leon Warshay and
Shoshana Wolok.
Michael Dallen, president of
Americans for a Safe Israel, was
installing officer, and Jeff Kaye,
the community shaliach from Is-
rael, was guest speaker.
Ms. Barnett helped establish
the multi-cultural curriculum for
the State of Michigan, and has
served as chairperson of the Col-
lege Outreach Committee of the
AZM for several years. She is a
life member of Na'amat, Hadas-
sah and Jewish National Fund,
and has written a book stressing
the contributions of the Jewish
people to America.
