A 22-foot papier mache pink
flamingo with a comical grin
looked about the dining room
while hanging among oodles of
palm trees inside Norman's Eton
Street Station restaurant in Birm-
ingham.
It was the official first day of
summer and the popular dining
and watering spot kicked it off
with a "Flock & Flamingle on the
Patio" that featured about 75 pink
plastic flamingos on the lawn, live
music of the tropics, etc.
Even an official margarita
called "Pink Flamingo" in cele-
bration of the 100-seater patio's
10th anniversary.
Norman's Eton Street Station
restaurant, owned by Norman
and Bonnie LePage, is the former
Birmingham train station turned
restaurant 12 years ago ... with
polished brass and wood accents,
art deco wall ornaments and light
fixtures and turn-of-the-century
carpeting, wallpapers and mir-
rors.
Weathercaster John McMur-

executive director of the Ronald
MacDonald House in Detroit, Ca-
role Hopkins, DeAnn Forbes and
a crowded many more.
Bonnie and Norm are so proud
of their children ... Daughter
Nicole was one of 150 out of 3,000
chosen to intern on MTV in New
York ... Even though all were told
none would be on "House of Style,"
Nicole's resume said she wanted
to work with MTV's very popular
show ... Out of the question turned
into reality and her dream came
true with the assignment doing
everything on "House of Style."
Their son Scott is a restaura-
teur chip off the parental block,
running restaurants for them ...
He is now the top dog at their East
Side Mario's in Rochester (they
also have the ones in Livonia and
Southfield).
Norman's Eaton Street Station
restaurant patio is one of the
cleanest and most inviting around
... so relaxing and peaceful.
