Dining Guide

Cafe Cortina, 30715 W. Ten Mile,

Farmington Hills, 474-3033. Rina Tonon
and son Adrian are rightfully proud of their
fine Italian restaurant with its romantic am-
biance. Original family recipes are pre-
pared for discerning diners by Chef
Vincenzo Bassonetii. The private garden
room with adjacent patio for appetizers
and cocktails is used for receptions, re-
hearsals, bar mitzvahs, etc. Dishes from
the Veneto region of Italy are prepared
and presented with choice elegance.

D. Dennisons, 27909 Orchard Lake

Rd., Farmington Hills, 553-7000. It is on
a par with many higher-touted restaurants
whose fish entrees are a main feature, but
still keeps a low key as one of the area's
better seafood houses. The fresh water-
farin' creatures that end up in both the Farm-
ington Hills and Livonia locales bring much
tasty goodness.

Ginopolis', 27815 Middlebelt Rd.,
Farmington Hills, 851-8222. One of Met-
ropolitan Detroit's favorite celebrity rest-
aurants, Ginopolis', owned by brothers
Johnny and Peter Ginopolis, carries on the
tradition of excellence which their father
George always insisted upon. Seafood,
authentic Montgomery Inn ribs and choice
selections are Ginopolis' favorites. A beau-
tiful private room is available plus off-
premise service for all types of catering.

SEAFOOD

J. J. Peppers, 37610 W. 12 Mile,

Farmington Hills, (810) 848-9C09. There's
live entertainment on Fridays and Satur-
days, and dinners for two on Sundays, 4
to 8, from a special menu, and kids eat
free on Mondays 5 p.m. to closing with
paid adult. Located in the Halsted Plaza,
it is more on the family dining theme, with
dishes for both lunch and dinner. The ca-
sual fun atmosphere also includes large
screen TV, pool, darts and games. Heart
healthy items are featured in the seven
days a week that the popular J.J. Peppers
is open. Thursday night is college night
from 9 p.m. Sounds like some more Bob
MacDonald. It is. The former Roman Ter-
race owner is general manager.

Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical
Museum, 31005 Orchard Lake Rd.,

6265020. Only the he clack at its out-
side entrance is backwards. Everything
else at this good time emporium spells fun
for the entire family. Owner Marvin Yago-
da was crazy like a fox when he came
up with the idea, but it has become one
of very few like it in the nation, winning
awards and appearing in magazines and
the Guiness World Bock d Records. Video
games, pinball machines, antique games,
unique posters, etc. include on old-time
photo booth. The party favorite also has
24 tables for lunch snacks.

Hakata, 32443 Northwestern Hwy.,

Farmington Hills, 737-7220. It is always
an interesting experience to dine at a
Japanese restaurant. And even more so
when the ring of Japanese authenticity is
always prevalent. The menu and ambi-
ence of Hakata, with its private rooms,
and slippers, sushi bar and open dining
room, are gracious attributes for this hon-
orable food emporium. It is open seven
days a week.
