Michigan Region recently in-
stalled the 1996-97 Executive
Board. The following high school
students were elected to serve
the region for next year: presi-

president: Risa Heller (Temple
Israel); religious and cultural
vice president: Adam Allenberg
(Temple Israel); social action
vice president: Nicole Scaglione
(Temple Israel); membership
vice president: Aviva Pearlman
(Temple Shaarey Zedek in East
Lansing); secretary: Meredith
Stegman (Temple Kol Ami);
treasurer: Jessie Jacobs (Tem-
ple Emanu-E1).

Habonim Dror
Joins Celebration
Habonim Dror will join the com-
munity in marking Israel's 48th
birthday on June 2. The Zionist
youth movement, which cele-
brates its 60th anniversary in the
Midwest this year, will partici-
pate in the Walk for Israel; and,
together with JEFF and the La-
bor Zionist Alliance, will partake
in the hands-on activities for
families.
In addition, Habonim Dror
young leaders will run the "In-
credible Israel Adventure" ac-
tivity center with friends and
leaders from Young Judea,
BBYO and other youth groups.
The entire Labor Zionist fam-
ily will get together at the picnic
area at 4:15 p.m. for a toast to Is-
rael's birthday and to pay tribute
to outgoing senior leaders Shana
Salinger and Segev Philips and
introduce next year's rosh, Ken
Paula and Anne Newman.

Heart Healthy
Event Set
The American Heart Association,
Henry Ford Hospital, Jewish
Community Center and TheraFit
Network are co-sponsoring a free
Heart Healthy event to be held in
the gymnasium of the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community Cen-
ter from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on
Wednesday, June 5.
Cholesterol and blood pressure
screening along with target heart
rate assessment will be provided.
Snacks also will be available dur-
ing the screening.
