It is possible to see most of the
museum in one day. You should
plan to spend at least three or four
hours. Museum hours are 10 a.m.
to 5:30 p.m. every day except
Christmas and Yom Kippur. The
box office opens at 9 am. for same-
day tickets. For advance tickets,
call 1-800-551-7328.
The architect who designed
the museum, James Freed, is
the son of a Holocaust survivor.
He wrote, "I made a building
that allows for horror, for sad-
ness. The museum is not meant
to be only a walk through mem-
ory or an exposition of emotion,
but both. I want it to be a res-
onator of emotions."

Court Clears
Extradition

New York (JTA) — A federal
judge has ruled that a leader of
Hamas could be extradited to Is-
rael because there was reasonable
cause to believe he was linked to
a Hamas conspiracy to commit vi-
olence.
`There is more than sufficient
evidence to show that Musa Abu
Marzook was a member of the con-
spiracy known as Hamas and that
the acts charged against him were
foreseeable consequences of the
conspiracy," wrote U.S. District
Court Judge Kevin Duffy.
Israeli officials were unavail-
able for comment immediately af-
ter the announcement of the
judge's decision.
A Hamas leader in the Gaza
Strip reportedly called the ruling
"a criminal act."
Judge Duffy ordered that Mr.
Marzook be held in a New York
federal prison until he is turned
over to Israeli authorities. Mr.
Marzook was arrested last July as
he tried to enter the United States,
where he had been living for sev-
eral years.
Israel has requested the extra-
dition, charging that the 45-year-
old engaged in a conspiracy to
commit murder and other crimes
against Israelis and has raised
money for the military wing of
Hamas.
U.S. prosecutors also have
charged that Mr. Marzook raised
money for arms for Hamas and re-
cruited terrorists.
Mr. Marzook has described
himself as the head of the politi-
cal bureau of Hamas and has de-
nied he raised money in the
United States to send abroad.
He also has denied that Hamas
has any organized activity in the
United States.
"Hamas' only structure is inside
Palestine," he told the New York
Times recently. 'There is no orga-
nization outside."
