The daughters of Leonard Si-
mons, Mary Lou Zieve, presi-
dent of the Detroit Historical
Society, and Susan Simons par-
ticipated in the tour. The group
posed for a photo in front of the
plaque at the museum naming
the Leonard N. Simons Streets of
Old Detroit.

The Optimist Club of West
Bloomfield announced the win-
ners of its 13th anniml Neree Alix
Scholarships. Eligible participants
are senior students who live in
West Bloomfield and attend one
of the eight high schools serving
the township. One representative
from each high school is selected
to compete. Keith Santiago of
Andover High School won first
place, and Jonathan Goldberg
of West Bloomfield High School
won second place. Other winners
included: Pulvinder Grewal,
Harrison; Jordan Schrag,
Groves; Ashley Parker, Walled
Lake Central; Adam Silver,
Wailed Lake Western; and Eri-
ka Jablin, North Farmington.
The club is looking for new mem-

West Bloomfield Parks and
Recreation will coordinate a
white-water rafting trip June 21-
23 in Pennsylvania. The trip in-

cently gathered at Congregation
B'nai Moshe for an evening of fun
with "friends." The USY group
watched some of their favorite TV
shows. Proceeds of the event will
be donated to tikkun olam. Some
of the USYers spotted in the
crowd were: Danie Barak,
Boris Grinshpun, Lavie Gold-
enberg, Rachel Turbow,
Michael Newman, Laura
Grey, Rebecca Greenhut, Max
Sussman, Max Rosenbaum,
