Camp Planned
For July 1

Camp Maccabi Summer Day
Camp, sponsored by Flint Jew-
ish Family and Children's Ser-
vices, will be offered this year
from July 1-August 16.
Located in Pioneer Village at
Camp Maas in Ortonville, Camp
Maccabi will provide a rustic,
outdoor setting.
New this year are Specialty
Weeks. These are available to
5th-8th graders. Camp Maas
staff will guide campers in in-
tensive week-long activities.
Campers can choose from a week
of fine arts, tennis, sports or wa-
tersports.
The cost of Camp Maccabi
ranges from $145 for one week
to $895 for seven weeks. Spe-
cialty weeks are $275 each.
Transportation and need-based
scholarships are available.

Flint Plans
'Celebration

Celebrate 3000 years of
Jerusalem in Flint on Sunday,
May 19, at 3 p.m. at Congrega-
tion Beth Israel, G-5240 Calkins
Road.
The afternoon will begin with
a concert by singer/guitarist Ger-
ard Edery. Participants can view
videos, enjoy an Israel film, cre-
ate crafts, browse through a li-
brary of books and an art gallery
exhibit of Israeli art, participate
in Israeli dancing, build the
Western Wall, be a part of cre-
ating a mosaic picture of
Jerusalem and browse and shop
in an Israeli shuk.
At 5:30 p.m., Israeli delicacies
will be available.
The cost of this event is $7 for
adults, $4 for children under 10
and senior citizens (with a $30
maximum per family). For in-

Flint Honors
Three Residents

The Flint Jewish Federation will
present Samuel Dismond Jr.,
Dorothy Reynolds and Gerald
Schreiber with the 1996 Donald
Riegle Community Service
Award. The 7th Annual Award
Dinner will take place on Thurs-
day, May 16. at 5 p.m. at the
Radisson Riverfront Hotel in
Flint.
Awardees are honored for
their display of exceptional com-
mitment in the area of commu-
nity service. This year's
recipients have helped to en-
hance the quality of life, preserve

and protect human dignity and
contribute to the improvement
of the welfare of the citizens of
the Greater Flint Area.
Dr. Samuel Dismond Jr., is the
chief of staff at Hurley Medical
Center. He is president elect of
the Genesee County Medical So-
ciety and president of the African
American Physicians Association
of Genesee County. Dorothy
Reynolds has served as president
of the Community Foundation of
Greater Flint since 1990. She acts
as chairperson to the Corporate
Advisory Committee of the Uni-
versity of Michigan-Flint and is
vice chairperson of the Downtown
Development Authority. Gerald
Schreiber is a partner and vice
president of Royalite Company
Electrical and Automation Whole-
sale Distributor. A graduate of the
University of Michigan, Mr.
Schreiber is a member of the Uni-
versity of Michigan Presidents
Club and the UM-Flint Citizens
Advisory Board.
Tickets are $125 per person or
$1000 for a table of eight. Call

cal Russian resettlement efforts.

Trio Sings
On Mother's Day

The Jewish Community Center
of Metropolitan Detroit will pre-
sent artists from the Israel Lyric
Trio on Sunday, May 12, at 3:30
p.m. at Maple-Drake.
The cost of the program is $3
for adults and $2 for children.
Mothers and grandmothers are
free with their children or a pho-

The Jewish Community Center
