Stepping Stones
Open House

"Captured Moments, Past and
Present" is a one-day workshop
10 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday, May 5,
at the Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center.
Glenn Ruggles, a member of
the Michigan Oral History Asso-
ciation, will conduct the class
which will teach individuals about
interviewing techniques, gather-
ing family histories, conducting
research and equipment use.
Captured Moments is spon-
sored by Generations Together
and the Jewish Community
Archives, in cooperation with the
Michigan/Israel Connection and
the Michigan Jewish Historical
Society. The program is made
possible by a grant from the Max
M. Fisher Jewish Community
Foundation of the Jewish Fed-
eration of Metropolitan Detroit.

The Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion's Jewish Experiences for
Families will host families with
one Jewish parent at an open
house for its Stepping Stones to
a Jewish Me program. Sunday,
May 5, from 2-3 p.m. at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
Developed by the Conserva-
tive and Reform Rabbis of Metro
Detroit, Stepping Stones is a
community program for children
ages 5-16 of interfaith, unaffili-
ated families. It offers weekly
classes which help children con-
nect with their Jewish heritage
as well as a variety of creative
programs which provide families
with a greater understanding of
Judaism.
The open house is co-spon-
sored by The Jewish News. Fam-
ilies interested in learning more
about the program for the 1996-
97 school year will have the op-
portunity to observe current
children's sessions and meet with
the Stepping Stones adminis-
trator, Sue Stettner, and facul-

will honor students who have
completed the two-year intensive
course of the Florence Melton
Adult Mini-School at a commu-
nity-wide event on Sunday, May
5, 6 p.m. at the Agency for Jew-
ish Education.
