will host a Gala Reception at the
Whitney Restaurant on Sunday,
March 24, immediately follow-
ing the 3:30 p.m. Orchestra Hall
performance of the Eighth An-
nual Piano Festival. Hors d'oeu-
vres stations, wine, coffee and
dessert will be accompanied by
the music of pop/jazz pianist
Pierre Fracalanza.
The Lyric Chamber Ensem-
ble's Eighth Annual Piano Fes-
tival — "Humorous Hands",
sponsored by Hammen Music, is
an event for piano lovers and in-
cludes works for two and four pi-
anos performed by local artists
Fedora Horowitz, Louis Nagel,
Joseph Gurt, Anton Nel, Yuki
and Tomoko Mack, and Steven
Rosenfeld and guest artist
Michael Gurt.
Tickets for the festival and re-
ception are $60/person, or $40 for
the reception only, and may be
reserved by calling (810) 357-
1111. Deadline for reservations
is March 18.

tee's 1996 "Conversations
With..." series continue with
guest speaker and Detroit com-
munity leader Joel Tauber, 7:30
p.m., Thursday, March 21, at the
home of Barbara and Levi Smith
in West Bloomfield.
Mr. Tauber will speak on the
changes within the American
Jewish community, examining
Jewish philanthropy, the down-
sizing of community agencies,
the merging of organizations and
the dwindling Jewish volunteer
base. As national president of
UJA, Mr. Tauber has an integral
role in determining American
Jewry's future.
This program is the second in
a four-part series of contempo-
rary Jewish and American sub-
jects that the Detroit Chapter is
sponsoring in their spring mem-
bership drive. There is no charge.
