Network Deal
Jerusalem (JPFS) — Bezeq
signed an agreement with Tel-
rad and Nortel (Northern Tele-
com) for the development of an
"intelligent network" that will
serve the company in the com-
ing years. Nortel, a large U.S.
company, is represented in Is-
rael by Tetrad.
The $12 million deal will be
implemented by the summer of
1997. Nortel manufactures plat-
forms for the supply of value-
added services attached to
existing digital phone ex-
changes. These can be used for
billing, dynamic routing of calls
depending on the time of day
and caller, voting, marketing
and virtual-reality services.
Jerusalem (JPFS) — Aladdin
Knowledge Systems has signed
a letter of intent to acquire Fast
Software Security.
Aladdin said the transaction
will consist of 3.15 million Al-
addin shares, plus an addition-
al number of shares whose total
value is $8 million.
Fast is one of the world's
three-largest international soft-
ware security firms, with 1995
revenues of $13.5 million. Com-
pany headquarters are in Mu-
nich, Germany.
Aladdin has also signed a let-
ter of intent to acquire all the
software security-related assets
of Glenco Engineering, Fast's
North American independent li-
censee, for $5 million. Glenco is

Jerusalem (JPFS) — The wave
of suicide attacks will not freeze
foreign investments aimed at
establishing Israel as a region-
al headquarters, Osem Presi-
dent Dan Propper said,
responding to fears in the cap-
ital markets that foreigners
might turn their backs at a ter-
rorism-plagued Middle East.
According to Mr. Propper,
who also serves as president of
the Manufacturers Association,
foreign investors are aware that
the peace process is not bound
to proceed smoothly.
He said the reaction of foreign
investors to terrorist attacks in
the past has demonstrated that
they are not easily deterred.
