Here are 2 reasons

why party guests prefer
our instant photos...

to do is plan a budget and to allow
yourself to go either 20 percent
higher or lower," he says. "Don't
go into debt for a wedding."
Referrals are always important,
but especially when looking for a
photographer, says Ron Lieber-
man, whose West Bloomfield stu-
dio shoots 300 parties a year. He
suggests looking at previous par-
ties the photographer has shot and
noticing whether the people look
comfortable and happy. And al-
ways ask, he stresses, who will be
shooting a party; sometimes it may
be an assistant or associate of the
photographer whose name is on
the business.
Good parties don't come cheap.
Ms. Luria managed to keep her
costs at around $10,000 for a 185-
person affair, but most party plan-
ners will say that's a rare feat.
They'll also say that after a certain
point, price really has no bearing
on whether a party wins the hearts
of its guests. "The fact is people
can have just as much fun at a
$15,000 party as they can at a
$75,000 one," she says.
"It's not the money or the place
or us (that make the event special).
"It's the people who are there." ❑

All-Important
Thank Yous

A written thank you from you is
mandatory from the host family to
recognize any gift that was re-
ceived.
In the case of a child, it may be
helpful to prepare a sample for the
child to follow while writing
thank-you notes:
1.Make sure the person's name
is spelled correctly.
2. Use appropriate adjectives
about the gift, such as generous,
terrific, beautiful, lovely, useful,
and include with direct mention
of gift.
3. Give options for closure: love,
sincerely, thank you. ❑
