A day of professional enrichment,
"Spread Over Us A Shelter of
Your Peace," is an annual con-
ference sponsored by the Agency
for Jewish education Thursday,
March 7, 8:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m. at
Temple Israel for early childhood
Jewish educators and teaching
assistants.
The conference will begin at
8:30 a.m. with registration and a
continental breakfast. Immedi-
ately following, Rabbi Yedwab
from Temple Israel will speak on
the meanings of shalom and the
importance of creating a "Shelter
of Peace" in the classroom.
The workshops, which will be
offered in the morning and af-
ternoon include: "Helping Chil-
dren Resolve Conflicts with Their
Peers," presented by Laura Stein,
head teacher at the Child Devel-
opment Laboratories at Michi-
gan State University; "Jerusalem
City of Peace," with Debbie Keil
Landau, coordinator of Children's
Special Events and storyteller
and Barnes & Noble Booksellers;
"Jewish Books for Children —
Books for Jewish Children," led
by Lynda A. Cohen, director of
Early Childhood Services at the
Dayton JCC; and "Kids, Clay and
Content," presented by Lynn
Scheele Nevins, potter and Jew-
ish educator. In addition, Irma
Starr, director of SPACE for
Changing Families of NCJW,
and Gayle Starr, expressive
arts/drama therapist at Chica-
go's Institute for Therapy in the
Arts, will offer "Proud of Our
Feelings: An Interactive Work-
shop;" Shawn Locke, AJE Direc-
tor of School Services will discuss,
"Shalom: A Rainbow of Hope;"
and Raquel P. Gershon, singer,
songwriter and director of the
AJE's Teachers Resource Center,
will present "Sing a Song of
Shalom: A Pocket Full of Ideas."
There is a fee for the confer-
ence, which includes a kosher
continental breakfast and lunch,
workshops with their school di-

The Agency for Jewish Edu-
cation will hold the third part of
its Ma'ayan Tefillah Teachers Re-
treat and "Bringing Holiness Into
the Day" Follow-up Workshop
Series on Sunday, March 10,
from 4:30-9 p.m. The program,
which will be held at Temple Shir
Shalom, will feature Debbie Frei-
dman, singer, songwriter and ed-
ucator.
The Workshop Series is a pilot
project aimed at helping Jewish
educators find ways to incorpo-
rate rituals and tefillah (prayer)
into daily routines within their
classr000ms or educational set-
tings.
The Retreat and Workshop Se-
ries is part of the AJE's NIRIM
Professional Enrichment Pro-
gram for Jewish Educators. Par-
ticipant will receive 10 NIRIM
Units upon completion of the pro-

Bais Chabad
Hosts Lecture
Congregation Bais Chabad of
Farmington Hills will have a lec-
ture for women only on Sunday
morning, March 10, at 10:30 a.m.
at the shul. Tamara Friedman of
Tamara's Institute De Beauty
will speak on "Beauty And
Health Tips."

a brunch being served prior to the

The Haggadah
The Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion's Midrasha Center for Adult
Jewish Learning will present
"Ma Nishtana: Why is This Night
Different?"
This free, three-part series will
explore the Passover Haggadah.

Program Set
Rabbi Aaron Bergman will speak
at the weekly Conservative
Movement Torah and Lunch
program, Thursday, March 7,
starting at 12:30 p.m. in the Max
M. Fisher Jewish Federation
Building.
Lunch is available for a fee at
noon and reservations are re-

Congregation Beth Abraham Hil-
