The Orthodox community is
giving new meaning to the term
money for nothing.
The Committee Against the
Elections, a group of Orthodox
rabbis in Jerusalem, recently an-
nounced that it will pay Israelis

Aharonot.
The committee is offering $100
for each Israeli who will turn in
his ID card until after the elec-
tions and it is putting up bul-
letins warning people against the
sin of voting, Yediot Aharonot re-
ports.

Barbra Streisand, who once
called a television channel to
complain that it raised the vol-
ume during the commercials in
the showing of one of her movies,
would have a fit in Israel.
That's because Israel's Chan-
nel 2 does not seem to care that
many viewers are complaining
about the same thing Ms.
Streisand protested, according to
Yediot Aharonot.
Channel 2 has a clear and loud
stance on the fact that it raises
the volume 10 to 15 decibels on
behalf of companies that pay its
bills:
"It is true that the volume of
our commercials is higher than
that of the programs, but it is
within legal bounds," Channel 2
officials told Yediot Aharonot.

EDUCATION TAX (SET)

Proposal "A" provides for any SET taxes that are not paid
by March 1 of each year to be transferred to the Wayne
County Treasurer for collection.
Therefore, under the current law, delinquent Detroit Real
Property SET taxpayers will receive a delinquent SET tax
bill from Wayne County, NOT from the City, for the
delinquent State Education Tax, plus 4% county adminis-
trative fees and 1% monthly interest.
Taxpayers can save money as well as prevent loss of prop-
erty through Wayne County tax sale, City foreclosure pro-
ceedings and/or civil litigation, by paying total delinquent
City property taxes on or before February 29, 1996.
