For Maccabi Games

he Metropolitan Detroit
Maccabi Club has estab-
lished a tryout schedule for
February and March for
Jewish teens to participate in the
JCC Maccabi Youth Games this
summer.
While the games will be held
at both Metrowest New Jersey
and in St. Louis, Mo., Detroit will
send all of its teams to Metrowest
New Jersey Aug. 18-23.
To be eligible, a participant
must be age 13 by Aug. 1, 1996,
and not have reached age 17 by
that date. Individual sports will
be competed separately by boys
and girls by age group (13-14 and
15-16). Team sports can use ath-
letes from both age groups.

terested in to maximize chances

pete in only one sport at the
games.
Cost of the games is $595,
which includes transportation,
uniforms, social and cultural
functions. Lodging will be pro-
vided by host families. Athletes
will also have to join the Detroit
Maccabi Club ($10) to participate,
but it is not necessary to be a
member to try out.
