MSU Hillel
Events Slated

Beginning and advanced begin-
ning Hebrew classes are being
held every Tuesday through Feb.
27. Beginning Hebrew classes
start at 6 p.m. and advanced be-
ginning Hebrew classes are at 7
p.m. There is a charge for the sev-
en-class series: $15 for students;
$35 for non-students.
Michigan-Israel Connection
will have a booth in the Union lob-
by on Wednesday, Jan. 24, from
11:30-3:30 p.. The Reform Chavu-
rah Group will celebrate Shabbat
at the University of Michigan on
Friday, Jan. 26. Starting Thurs-
day, Jan. 25, every Thursday
night will be "Friends Watching
Friends" at Hillel. The first two
events are free.
On Saturday, Jan. 25, the
Graduate and Professionals'
Group will have dinner at El-Az
and then go to the Green Door for
after-dinner festivities. Call Ellie
Berger, 332-1916, to respond for
this event.
Every Friday night Reform and
Conservative services commence
at 6:15 p.m. with dinner follow-
ing at 7 p.m. There is a $6 charge
for dinner. This a payable in ad-

U-M Hillel
Events Calendar

Deli dinner in the dorms will be
served on Sunday, Jan. 21, at
Mary Markley Residence Hall at
6 p.m. The dinner is free. A walk-
ing group will be available to
Markley from East Quad at 5:45
p.m. (for all central campus
dorms).
Israeli dancing will be Sunday,
Jan. 21, from 7:30-10 p.m. at Hil-
lel. The cost is $2.50.
Celebrate the traditional Rosh
Hodesh, the celebration of the
new Jewish month, at a creative,
feminist service on Sunday, Jan.
21, at 7:30 p.m. at Hillel.
"The Problems of American
Synagogue Design," a lecture by
Lee Shai Weissbach of the Uni-
versity of Louisville, Department
of History, will be delivered on

Monday, Jan. 22, at 4 p.m. in
Room 3040 Frieze Building.
The Volunteers in Action (VIA
Hillel) Meeting will be Monday,
Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. at Hillel.
An informational meeting will
be held Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 6:30
p.m. at Hillel. A group of students
will spend the week of March 2-
10 in Detroit helping Jewish el-
derly, Jewish developmentally
disabled adults, and working to
help the kosher food pantry.
Pizza and Politics will be Tues-
day, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. at Hillel.
State Senator Alma Wheeler-
Smith will talk about strategies
for increasing student involve-
ment in politics.
Prospect, the Jewish Student
Journal at the University of
Michigan, will have its mass
meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 24,
at 7 p.m. at Hillel. Positions for
writers, editors, layout staff and
artists are available.
Shulchan Ivrit, will meet
Thursday, Jan. 25, at 5:30 p.m. in
the downstairs of Cava Java Cafe.
Reform Chavurah's weekly
meeting will be Thursday, Jan.
25, at 7 p.m. at Hillel.

MSU Hillel
Hosts Rabbi

Rabbi Avraham Jacobovitz, di-
rector of Machon L'Torah, will
lead a program on the Michigan
State University campus on
Wednesday, Jan. 24. The pro-
gram will take place in the Union
Building at 7:30 p.m.
Rabbi Jacobovitz will lead a dis-
cussion titled "Interdating, In-
termarriage, and Racism."
Refreshments will be served.
There is no charge.

Sisterhood Meets
