Torah Program

Rabbi Leonardo Bitran will speak
at the weekly Conservative Move-
ment Torah and Lunch program,
0 Thursday, Jan. 25 starting at
12:30 p.m. in the Max M. Fisher
Jewish Federation Building.
Lunch will be available for a fee
at noon; reservations are re-
quested.
The weekly Torah Series is
sponsored by the Detroit Friends
of the Jewish Theological Semi-
nary, the Rabbinical Assembly
and United Synagogue for Con-
servative Judaism, Michigan Re-
gion.

Short Story
Discussions Set

The Agency for Jewish Education
Community Library will sponsor
Literary Journeys, a free biweek-
ly discussion of short stories.
Literary Journeys will take
place on Thursday evenings from
7:30 to 9 p.m. in the ME Library.
The schedule of literature and
dates will include: Jan. 25, "A
Writer in the Family" by I.L. Doc-
trow; Feb. 8, "Bloodshed" by Cyn-
thia Ozick; Feb. 22, "I Always
Wanted You To Admire My Fast-
ing or Looking at Kafka" by Philip

Childhood" by Grace Paley;
March 28, "Where it is Written"
by Adam Schwartz; April 18,
"Bridging' by Max Apple; May 2,
"The Name" by Aharon Megged;
May 16 "In Agrippa's Vineyard"
by Saul Tchernichovsky; June 6,
"Mr. Kaplan and the Magi" by
Leo Rosten and June 20, "Angel
Levine" by Bernard Malamud. All

Story Time
For Families

The Agency for Jewish Education
will present Let Your Imagina-
tion Soar, a Jewish family and
children's storytime. This free,
family program will occur on Sun-
day, Jan. 28, from 2:15 to 3:30
p.m. at the ME Library, 21550
W. 12 Mile Road, Southfield.
Participants will hear Jewish
stories, told by Julie Solomon, the
ME librarian and will participate
in craft activities with staff from
Jewish Experiences for Families.
Kosher refreshments will be
served. No pre-registration is re-
quired.

Bais Chabad
Hosts Weekend

Dr. Anita Turtletaub of Chica-
go's Midwest Jewish Singles
and Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg
of Detroit's Bais Chabad will
host a Shabaton for Orthodox
Jewish individuals over 30 in
West Bloomfield Friday, Feb.
16, through Sunday, Feb. 18.
The keynote speaker will be
Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan, host of
"Awake, Alive and Jewish," a
weekly radio program in Wash-
ington, D.C. He will talk on
"Judging Yourself and Judging
Others" and "I'm Angry and I'm
Not Going to take it Anymore."
There will be a melava malka
Saturday night and brunch
Sunday morning.
The cost is $175 for the

Kids Fair
At The Palace

Kids Fair '96 will be Sunday,
Jan. 28, at the Palace of Auburn
Hills. It will be a fun day for the
entire family. Children: $2,

from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the li-
