Food In Historic Holly
Has A Four-Star Reputation

y

ou might say that it has
the name but not the
game ... And to make
things even more confus-
ing, it is not a hotel but a restau-
rant.
However, it had been a hotel
at one time ... with about 38
rooms ... built in 1891 at the site
of Michigan's first railroad junc-
tion ... and devastated by two
fires ... 1913 and 1978 ... both
ironically on the exact same day
... 65 years apart.
It is now owned and operated
by former Pittsburgh restaura-
teur George Kutlenios and wife
"Leo" (Linda) ... with Dan Bal-
lard, general manager.
After the '78 fire, a two-year
renovation restored the late
Queen Anne-style building back
to its 1891 Victorian appearance.
Now called the Historic Holly
Hotel, it is located in the desig-
nated historic district of Battle
Alley in Holly, four minutes off
1-75 and less than 15 minutes off
US-23.
Seating in main dining areas
is for 150 ... The 110-capacity
downstairs houses its 1891
