that the first glamorous gala of
the year was the 1996 North
American International Auto
Show benefit held at Cobo Cen-
ter. The black-tie affair held be-
fore the official opening of the
auto show benefited ten children's
charities. The event was a sell-
out, raising more than $2 million.
