CONGRATS ... to Rose Burg
... on her 100th birthday ... cele-
brated by family and friends at
the Prentis Manor Nursing Home
... Rose, born in Austria-Hungary,
has three children, Bernice
Shecter (Nate), Ann Wedes and
Dr. Leon Burg (Blanche), 10
grandchildren and 29 great-
grandchildren.
To Milton Kogan ... on his 80th
birthday ... celebrated at the
home of daughter Carole and son-
in-law Mel Kaftan ... Party was
given by Mel and Carole, and his
son and daughter-in-law Alan
and Rosalie Kogan ... Milt's taste
for Jewish traditional food and
his memories of growing up with
it in Detroit helped set up the five
"Ks" menu ... kugel, kishke,
knishes, kashe and kreplach
along with boiled beef flanken,
brisket of beef and stuffed cab-
bage.
To Izzy Malin ... on his birth-
day ... And to Iz and Fran Malin
... on their 58th anniversary.
AS USUAL, everybody had a
good time when The Jewish News
put on its sixth annual holiday
shindig ... Thanks to the catering
prowess of Matt Prentice at Ho-
tel Baronette, with Banquet Chef
Mark Wright doing a bang-up job
on the food, Catering Manager
Kathy Charnley, Banquet Man-
ager Herta Robinson, and the fine
musical entertainment of Simone
Vitale, the annual IN parties
keep getting better and better.

troit representation on the buffet

THE OLD Suzie Q seafood
menu has emerged again ... It has
been installed by its former gen-
eral manager, Ernie Kostrzewa,
at Payne's Woodward Inn on N.
Woodward in Berkley (former
Pub 1881) ... Ernie works part
time with Larry Payne of Dug-
gans Restaurant on Woodward,
and Payne's ... plus doing special
assignments for Hugh Gedrich
and Associates, restaurant con-
sultants.
MANY OTHER restaurants
that have it shy away from ta-
bleside cooking on Saturday
evening, but that's the one night
it is featured now at Paparazzi
Ristorante, Orchard Lake Road
north of Maple in Sugar Tree
Plaza ... James Moore puts on the
flaming show 5-10 p.m. from a
special menu along with re-
quests.
MAIL DEPT. ... from Judy
Isaacs ... "I enjoyed your recent
column article in Coco's Korner.
Anyone who knows Burt and I
know how much we love our
Michigan Humane Society
adopted mutt, Dexter. I'd like to
add one more helpful cold-weath-
er tip. When Dexter goes out for
his winter walks, we coat his
paws with Vaseline. This pro-
tects them from the snow and
ice. By the time he comes in, the
Vaseline has been absorbed, so
no need to worry about the car-
pet."
From Eddie Rogovin ... "The
opening again of London Chop
House (now called Downtown
London Chop House) brings back
a lot of very fond memories. The
camaraderie that we, the re-
turning GIs, had was wonderful.
And into the years, it provided
many wonderful evenings rll nev-
er forget. The food and atmos-
phere of London Chop House
were excellent. I hope it returns
to its former greatness ... or even
close."
THE SUDDEN suro-e of bagel
outlets in this area reveals an im-
portant factor ... The dough is
mainly made out-of-town and ar-
rives here frozen ... making it dif-
ficult to compete with local
operations ... Detroit is noted for
its bagels. El
