For Chanukah
Stories, singing, games, latkes
are planned by the agencies of
the Jewish Federation of Metro-
politan Detroit in celebration of
Chanukah.
• Stepping Stones to a Jewish
Me Chanukah Family Program
for interfaith families will have
Chanukah activities, crafts songs
and more 1:45 p.m., Sunday, Dec.
17, sponsored by JEFF at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
• Children's Story time:
Chanukah Happenings with
Helayne will take place 3 p.m.,
Sunday, Dec. 17, in the AJE Li-
brary, co-sponsored by JEFF and
the library. Helayne Shaw will
present stories, songs and pup-
pets.
• JEFF's Institute for Single
Jewish Mothers and Congrega-
tion B'nai Moshe will co-sponsor
a Chanukah celebration 6:30
p.m., Monday, Dec. 18, at the syn-
agogue. An optional dinner will
be served at 6 p.m. There will be
Chanukah music, stories and
crafts for single Jewish mothers
and their children.
Hillel Foundation of Metro-
politan Detroit will serve a spe-
cial Chanukah lunch on Monday,
Dec. 18, and light candles daily.
Freshman Talya Drissman dec-
orated the Hillel offices at Wayne
State University.
Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center will have dai-
ly Chanukah candlelightings and
a display of Jewish News
Chanukah art contest entries. the
JPM Chanukah party will take
place at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 17,
and feature the Mask Puppet
Theater. Winners of the art con-
test will be named. JPM will have
it Boaz Siegel Cultural Fund
Chanukah Concert for Adults at
1 p.m., Monday, Dec.18. Mimi
Summers will be featured.
The Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center will have its
annual Chanukah celebration
noon, Sunday, Dec. 17 at Maple-
Drake. A dairy lunch will be
served in the staff lounge at a
nominal charge. The afternoon
will include Chanukah stories,
games and songs.
An
intergenerational
Chanukah event will take place
5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at
Maple-Drake. The evening will
feature a Chanukah-Havdala
service, dinner and a workshop
where families will make their
own Havdalah sets. There is a fee
for diner and materials.
The Maple-Drake Center will
be the scene of the Jewish Par-
ents Institute secular family
Chanukah event 10:15 a.m. Sun-
day, Dec. 17, in Shiffman Hall.
The community is invited to en-
joy Chanukah foods, crafts, sing,
dancing, a Chanukah musical
and a candlelighting.
Klezmer music, Big Band
tunes and traditional Chanukah
melodies will sound from the
Maple-Drake Jewish Center at
12:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18, at
the Si Israel Memorial
Chanukah Party, Featuring Sam

lies will have their sixth annu-
al Chanukah party in honor of
Fleischman residents 1:30 p.m.,
Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Fleis-
chman Residence/Blumberg

present comedy and music, ad

games, gifts, songs, baking, can-
dlelighting and goodies.
On Monday, Dec. 18, residents
will play dreidel in the lobby at
9:45 a.m. On Tuesday, Dec. 19,
at 10:30 a.m., the residents will
present the story of Chanukah
directed by Nancy Gurwin. Res-
idents will make potato latkes at
9:45 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 20. A
handbell concert will be held at
2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21. At 6 p.m.,
Saturday, Dec. 22, residents of a
Jewish Association for Residen-
tial Care group home will be
guests of the Fleischman resi-
dents at a Chanukah Shabbat
dinner and services.
