Harlene Appelman, Jewish Federation's director of community outreach and
involvement, accepts the 1995 Avi Chai/Council of Jewish Federations Award at
the CJF General Assembly in Boston. Pictured with Mrs. Appelman, are Yossi
Prager, Avi Chai Foundation executive director/North America; Dr. Ruth Wisse,
Avi Chai trustee; Dr. S. Harold Horwitz, chairman of the Avi Chai/CJF Award
Committee; Detroiter Mandell Berman, who initiated the JEFF program; and
Federation Executive Vice President Robert P. Aronson.

Yad Ezra recently received a check for $10,000 from the Ben Teitel Charitable
Trust. Gerald Cook, the trustee for the Foundation, donated the funds to upgrade
Yad Ezra's computer system. Shown are Lea Luger, Special Projects
