Cranbrook Music Guild chamber
series will present its 44th year
of fine chamber music at Cran-
brook House in Bloomfield Hills,
the English country manor built
by the Cranbrook founders in
1908.
In an opening concert Oct. 24,
the Guild will offer the Michigan
Chamber Players, an assemblage
of ten University of Michigan
School of Music faculty members.
They will perform as two quin-
tets.
Pianist Ramon Salvatore will
perform an all-Copland concert
November 21.
Music from the high baroque
and early classical eras will be of-
fered Dec. 12 by the Sutherland
Ensemble. The winter-spring
concerts will bring the Raphael
Piano Trio and pianist Grant
Wenaus.
The season will finish with the
Lark Quartet.
Season tickets for the six-con-
cert series are $75 regular and
$110 for patron. For concert and

Theatre Guild
Dedicates Art
On Saturday, Oct. 7, St. Dun-
stan's Theatre Guild of Cran-
brook will dedicate Marshall
Fredericks' sculpture, Baboon
Playing A Ham. The sculpture is
a bronze casting of an orginal
piece presented to St. Dunstan's
member Templin Licklider in
1938. The dedication ceremony
will take place from 4 to 6 p.m.
and all friends of St. Dunstan's
are invited to attend. Reserva-
tions are requested and can be
made by calling (810) 642-1035.
The theater is located at 400 Lone
Pine Road, between Woodward
and Lahser.
Book Sale
At Library
The Friends of the Southfield
Public Library will hold its semi-
annual used book sale in the
Marcotte Room of the Library
Oct. 9 through 12.
To open the sale on Monday,
Oct. 9, the Friends will host the
customary Preview Night from 6
to 8:30 p.m. There is an admis-
sion fee (for this night only) of $4,
which entitles the book browsers
to have first look at the books for
sale and complimentary refresh-
ments.
Remaining book sale hours
will be: Oct. 10 and 11, 9:30 a.m.-
8:30 p.m.; Oct. 12, 10 a.m.-5:30
p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 12, all the
books sold will go for half price.
