Ms. Schaver as been a dedi-
cated supporter of the Holocaust
Memorial Center since its in-
ception.Through her generosity,
the Holocaust Memorial Center's
library was endowed and named
the Morris and Emma Schaver
Library-Archive in 1984. The li-
brary also houses Mrs. Schaver's
personal archives, which docu-
ment a lifetime of dedication to
the Jewish community.
The Schavers were active in
the Israel-American Cultural
Association, Halevy-Hazomir
Choral Society, Jewish Nation-
al Workers Affiance, United Jew-
ish Appeal, Israel Bond, Jewish
National Fund, the Histadrut.
Mrs. Schaver has been hon-
ored for her contributions in
many ways. Wayne State Uni-
versity named its music building
after her and her husband. She
received the First Eleanor Roo-
sevelt Humanities Award of the
State of Israel Bonds and the
1994 Labor Zionist Award. In
June 1995 the Jewish Historical
Society presented her with its
fifth annual Leonard N. Simons
History Award. She is also a
founder and patron of the Red
Mogen Dovid.
