Radomer Aid
Holds Dinner

The Radomer Aid Society will
hold a dinner meeting for mem-
bers on Monday, Sept. 18, at the
Brass Pointe Restaurant at 6:30
p.m. The topic of discussion will
be the 75th annual banquet to be
held Oct. 18. Also, there will be
discussion of the last Jewish
Landsmanshftn in the new
world.
Portions of the original
Radomer constitution written in
1920 by Nathan Samat will be
interpreted and discussed.

The Jimmy Prentis Morris Jew-
ish Community Center will pre-
sent State Representative
Maxine Berman speaking on
"Trends and Challenges Facing
Today's Senior Citizens" on Mon-
day Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. This pro-
gram is free of charge.
Music Appreciation will be
held on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 1
p.m. Fabs Kaldobsky will pre-
sent a discussion of world famous
composers and their music. This
program is free of charge.
The Yiddish Culture Club
Concert will be held on Thurs-
day, Sept. 21, at 1p.m. Cantor
Sidney Resnick, accompanied by
Lillain Zellman, will present a
High Holiday program titled "A
New year - A New Beginning."
This program is free of charge.

Metro Hillel
Plans Events

Hillel of Metro Detroit fall kick-
off event will be Sunday, Sept.
17, at Joe Dumars Fieldhouse.
Sportsmania will be from 1-4
p.m. For cost information, call

FWD Coffee House Night will
be Monday, Sept. 18, in the back-

Birmingham at 9 p.m.
This week at Wayne State Hil-
lel, 667 Student Center building,
Rabbi Antin will discuss "Re-
newal, Repentance, and Rejoic-
ing. Themes of the High Holidays"
part 1 of 3 at 12:30 p.m. Monday,
Sept. 18. Part 2 will be Oct. 2; part
3 will be Oct. 11.
On Thursday, Sept. 21, Hillel
Kosher Cafe cook Bonnie Welk-
er will teach how to make chal-
lah at 1 p.m.

Flint Temple
Plans Events

Blanche Gordon has been se-
lected as the 1995 Temple Beth
El of Flint honoree. Mrs. Gordon
will be recognized for her years
of devotion and efforts in activi-
ties both at Temple Beth El and
in the Flint Jewish Community
on Sept. 22, following the 8 p.m.
service. A special oneg will salute
her.
Ira Konigsberg, professor of
English and film at the Univer-
sity of Michigan, will present a
series of three Sunday evening
screenings of three celebrated
films that employ humor as a re-
sponse to prejudice and suffer-
ing at Temple Beth El, Flint.
On Oct. 22. the series begins
with Yidl mitn Ficll, the Yiddish
classic about a wandering group
of Klezmer musicians that offers
an extraordinary view of Jewish
existence in pre-war Poland at
the same time that it presents
the legendary Molly Picon in her
funniest and most famous screen
role.
On Oct. 29. Mel Brook's noto-
rious The Producers will be
screened.
The series concludes on Nov.
5 with Woody Allen's Academy-
Award winning Annie Hall.
Professor Konigsberg will in-
troduce each film and then con-
duct a general discussion after
the screenings. Screenings and
discussions will take place at 7
p.m. all programs are free and
open to the community. The
Max Hart Lectureship is a co-
operative venture of Temple
Beth El's Adult Education Corn-
mittee and the Judaic Studies
Program at the University of
Michigan.

Federation
Hosts Meeting

Reservations are still being ac-
cepted for the Jewish Federa-
tion's 69th annual meeting 7:15
p.m. Oct, 2, at Adat Shalom Syn-
agogue.
Robert H. Naftaly will be nom-
inated as president of the Jew-
ish Federation, succeeding David
K. Page, who completed a three-
year term as president.
Dulcie Rosefeld will receive
the Fred M. Butzel Award for
distinguished community ser-
vice. Nominees for election to the
board of governors as members-
at-large also will be announced
during the meeting.
A dessert reception will follow
the annual meeting. There is $15
charge per person for the recep-
tion.
