West Bloomfield are happy to an-

daughter, Ilona, to Matthew
Birenbaum, son of Mr. David
Birenbaum of Washington, D.C.,
and Ms. Cynthia Barber of Al-
buquerque, N.M.
Ilona graduated with honors
from Michigan State University
in 1991 and received her master's
degree from the School of Labor
and Industrial Relations at
Michigan State in 1992. Matthew

graduated with honors from
Brown University in 1987 and re-
ceived his master's business ad-
ministration from the J. L.
Kellogg Graduate School of Man-
agement at Northwestern Uni-
versity in 1993.
The couple lives in Houston,
where Ilona works for Amoco in
human resources and Matthew
works for Tishman Speyer Prop-
erties in real estate development.
A September wedding is

of their children, Tiisa Anne Cher-
niak and Jay Ethan Fisher.
Lisa earned a bachelor of arts
in advertising at Michigan State
University. She is employed by
the Total Foods Corporation. Jay

earned a bachelor of science de-
gree in psychology at the Uni-
versity of Michigan and a medical
doctorate at Wayne State Uni-
versity. He is in his final year of
residency at Beaumont Hospital
in Royal Oak.
A December wedding is
