Fall Classes
The Jewish Parents institute, an
affiliate of the Jewish Commu-
nity Center of Metropolitan De-
troit, will begin Sunday school
classes Sunday, Sept. 10, at the
Maple-Drake building. Classes
are offered for children in nurs-
ery through 8th grade. An op-
tional b'nai mitzvah and Hebrew
program will be available for in-
terested students. JPI stresses
the history and culture of Ju-
daism and explores the underly-
ing ethical and moral values
inherent in Jewish history.
Registration will take place
opening day in Room 150.
Prospective members should plan
to arrive prior to 10 a.m. to fa-
cilitate registration. Classes meet
from 10 a.m.-noon. children will
meet in their classrooms, while
parents meet in Room 150 for ori-
entation and questions. Coffee
and bagels will be served.

Institute Hosts
Annual Tour
The 1995 Church-Synagogue
Tour, sponsored by the Ecu-
menical Institute for Jewish-
Christian Studies, will be held on
Sunday, Sept. 17, beginning at
1:30 p.m.
This annual program provides
an opportunity to visit three dif-
ferent houses of worship, meet
with clergy, and learn more about
the religious beliefs of those who
worship year. The 1995 tour
highlights three West Bloomfield
churches and synagogues.
The tour will begin at Holy
Spirit Lutheran Church where
Pastor Bruce Quatman will talk
with guests. At Prince of Peace
Catholic Church, the second stop
on the tour, Father Arnold Kosco
will meet with visitors. The final
stop is Temple Kol Ami where
Rabbi Norman Roman will speak
with the group. At each stop
there will be opportunities for
questions and participation from
those attending the tour.
All three of these religious fa-
cilities provide a wide range of ed-
ucation and social programs for
their members, and all three are
active in the community as well.
An informal reception will be
held at Temple Kol Ami at 4:30
p.m. There will be an opportu-
nity for fellowship and refresh-
ments (Jewish dietary laws will
be observed). Rev. James R.
Lyons, executive director of the
Ecumenical Institute, will speak
briefly about the work of the In-
stitute.
