The Midrasha Center for Adult
Jewish Learning will offer a He-
brew Open House on Wednes-
day, Aug. 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Prospective students will have
the opportunity to meet with the
Hebrew teachers and receive as-
sistance in selecting courses.
Hebrew classes meet for 16
weeks, beginning Sept. 5, and
are held at the Agency for Jew-
ish Education. There is a fee.
Midrasha also will begin its
fall offering of courses in Jewish
studies. "Inside the Rabbinic
Mind," a 12-session course
taught by Rabbi Rod Glogower,
explores Talmud, commentaries,
codes, response, and other gen-
res of rabbinic literature. Themes
vary from week to week. Some
reading knowledge of Hebrew is
helpful but not required. Class-
es will be held on Tuesdays, from
10:30 a.. to noon, or from 7:30 to
9 pm. and will run from Sept. 5
through Dec. 19.
Another course offered is "Who
is Wise? Insights from Pirkei
Avot," also taught by Rabbi Glo-
gower. Pirkei Avot is a summa-
ry of Mishnaic material
attributed to sages and teachers
of the early rabbinic period. It is
an entry-level text for beginners
