grueling and hardest condition-
ing I have ever gone through be-
fore a game," Stoler says. "I am
extremely happy to have been
able to participate and keep up
with that level of intense team
play."
THE SKINNY: Stoler plays football
as well. He is a fullback for Sea-
holm's junior varsity team.
Stoler enjoys both sports, but
his first love is hockey. Last sea-
son, Stoler's team, the Dakota,
was the District 4 championship
and was Little Caesars runner-
up. The team's league record
was 15-3.
Stoler had three shutouts, and
his goals against average was
1.43. In April, Stoler's team also
went to the state finals in north-
ern Michigan, where they lost 3-
1 in the semifinals.
This summer, Stoler worked
with former New York Ranger
Mike Hartman at Hockey Amer-
ica camp at the University of
Michigan Dearborn.
During the off-season, Stoler
works out with personal trainer
Mike Merfert three times a week
at a Troy gym. Eventually, he
would like to play college hock-
ey.
QUOTE: "I thought it was an hon-
or to play with people at the lev-
el and hockey caliber of Druzhba
78," Stoler said. "I would like to
continue playing hockey for as
long as I can, even through my
mid-life years."
