Gershman is an active tennis
player and golfer. He also works
out every day at the Oak Park
Jewish Community Center,
where he bikes, lifts weights and
does cardiovascular exercises.
Gershman has a daughter at-
tending Berkley High School and
will have another one there in
three years. He admits he en-
courages his own children, and
other students as well, to contin-
ue their athletic and academic en-
deavors at college.

DEED: Staler, 16, will enter his ju-
nior year at Seahohri. He took up
hockey around age 2 at Southfield
Hockey Club clinics. After that,
Stoler played for several South-
field League teams.
He is 5-foot-10 inches and 200
pounds. Staler was a defenseman
and forward from ages 4 - 7. He
started playing goalie at age 8.
On July 29, Staler was asked
to substitute for the injured
Druzhba 78 goalie. He was the
only American on the team and
Druzhba 78 won the game 17-1.
After the game, people asked
Stoler for his autograph and told
him he spoke English very well.
