Dr. Max B. Winslow
Dr. Max Beresin Winslow, 91, of West Bloom-
field, died July 31. Dr. Winslow received his
doctor of dentistry degree from the Universi-
ty of Michigan in 1924. His professional affili-
ations included life membership in the Amer-
ican Dental Association,
Michigan Dental Association,
Oakland Dental Society. In ad-
dition, he was a member of the
Michigan Society of Periodon-
tists, American Academy of Pe-
riodontology.
Dr. Winslow served as the
founder and past president of
the Russell W. Bunting Peri-
odontal Study Club, former
chief of the periodontics section
of Sinai Hospital and former
chairman of the board of gov-
ernors of the Univeristy of
Michigan School of Dentistry
Alumni Society.
Throughout his career, Dr.
Winslow was the recipient of
Max B. Winslow
many awards attesting to his
deication to his career and the community.
Among the accolades were a certificate of ap-
preciation from the American Academy of Pe-
riodontology, a meritorious award from the
Michigan Dental Association, a certificate of
RENE MALIN ABBOTT, 79,
of Detroit, died July 27. Mrs.
Abbott was the beloved wife of
the late Norman Henry Abbott.
She is survived by her son Ge-
offrey M. of Detroit; brothers-
in-law, Sylvan of Illinois,
Arthur of Portugal. Memorial

FREDA BAUM, 92, of Detroit,
died July 30. Mrs. Baum was
the beloved wife of the late
Abraham Baum, loving mother
of the late Sidney and David
Baum. Mrs. Baum is survived
by her son and daughter-in-
law, Harvey and Marilyn of
West Bloomfield; daughter, Es-
telle Kabrin of Margate, Fla.;
grandchildren, Carole Kabrin,
Donna and David Silver, Davi-
da Kabrin, David and Lynn
Baum, Howard and Patti
Baum, Ilene and Richard Tuck-
er, Andrew Baum, Sheryl and
Joseph Inwald, Susanne Baum
and Allen Ostrow; great-grand-
children; Aaron, Rachel and Al-
lison Tucker, Michael Baum,
Shawn and Kari Silver, Seth
Baum, Ariell Inwald. Also sur-
vived by Pearl Baum. Memori-
merit from the Allied Jewish Campaign and a
community service award from the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation. Dr. Winslow was widely pub-
lished in his field including many articles in the
Journal of theAmerican Dental Association and
the Oakland Dental Review.
He strongly felt his civic duty
and worked into his busy
schedule many leadership po-
sitions which helped to
strengthen the community. He
served as a director of the Jew-
ish Community Council, pres-
ident of the Resettlement Ser-
vice of Metropolitan Detroit,
chairman of the budget com-
mittee of the Jewish Welfare
Federation and president of the
Temple Beth El Men's Club.
He was the beloved husband
of the late Myrtle H. Winslow.
Dr. Winslow is survived by his
daughters, Phyllis of Pigeon,
Mich., Ilene Komer of West
Bloomfield; son-in-law, Simon
Komer; grandchildren, Joscelyn, Danielle and
Rachel Komer. Interment at Beth El Memor-
ial Park. Memorial contributions may be di-

PAULINE BLOCH, 82, of
North Miami Beach, Fla., died
July 30. Mrs. Bloch was the
secretary-treasurer of the
Youth Education League, past
president of ORT, active with
Crohns and Colitis Foundation
and a member of Temple Beth
El and its sisterhood for 45
years.
She was the beloved wife of
the late A. Howard Bloch. Mrs.
Bloch is survived by her sons

Chang of Washington, D.C.,
Harry and Hilda "Sonny" of
New York, N.Y.; daughter and
