Israel Tour
Applications are available for the
Israel 1995 Summer Learning
Tour. A total of 10 scholarships
will be awarded for the best qual-
ified applicants.
The tour, led by Rabbi Ja-
cobvitz, will include Jerusalem,
Masada, the Galilee, Galon
Heights, Tiberias Tel-Aviv the
Negev and more. In addition to
sightseeing, there will be lec-
tures and discussions by local
scholars and Jewish study in
the areas of philosophy, lan-
guage, history, laws and cus-
toms and general Jewish
information. In addition, the
participants will interact with
Israeli families. The group will
be based at the Heritage House
Hostel in Jerusalem.
The tour will depart Detroit
on Monday, Aug. 14, and will re-
turn on Monday, Aug. 28. Call

AJE Hosts
Melton Event
The Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion will host A Taste of Melton,
an introduction to the Florence
Melton Mini-School of Metro De-
troit for adults, on Wednesday,
July 5, at 9 a.m. at the AJE's
Midrasha Center for Adult Jew-
ish Learning.
The event will offer adults an
opportunity to meet instructor
Nehama Glogower, experience a
mini-lesson, and receive addi-
tional information on the pro-
gram.
The Melton mini-school was
established to guide adults
through the different aspects of
a Jewish lifestyle, as well as
teach them more about it. Class-
es meet twice a week for 30
weeks per year for two years,
with no grades, exams or home-
work. Graduates receive certifi-
cates from the Hebrew
University.
