Susan C. Yorke, past president
of the Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah, will be honored at an
Hadassah Israel Bonds Tribute
Luncheon to be held at Tam
O'Shanter Country Club,
Wednesday, June 21, at noon.
For her service to the communi-
ty and the Jewish people, she will
receive the State of Israel "Lion
of Judah" Award. Bel Kaufman,
author, lecturer and grand-
daughter of Sholom Aleichem will
be the guest speaker.
Mrs. Yorke, who served the
Greater Detroit Chapter of Hadas-
sah as president from 1986-1989,
also is a national board member
of Hadassah and received its lead-
ership award in 1993. She is an
executive board member at Tem-
ple Israel; a life member of Na-
tional Council of Jewish Women;
actively involved in the Women's
Division of the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit and asso-
ciated with Holocaust Associations
in West Bloomfield, Washington,
D.C., and California.
