We promise you, a good time!

The Holocaust Memorial Center
(HMC) will start a new docent
training session on June 19, at
10 a.m. at the HMC, 6602 W.
Maple Road in West Bloomfield.
Docents guide groups on a
walking tour through the HMC.
They explain the exhibits and in-
terpret the history and lessons
of the Holocaust.
The HMC conducts an exten-
sive, ongoing training program
for docents. The program is co-
ordinated by docent Judy Miller,
an HMC board member and a re-
tired teacher. Participants view
videos, read assigned books and
articles and share the experi-
ences of seasoned docents. A one-
on-one walk-through tour with
a member of the docent training
committee completes the pro-
gram.
The training program nor-
mally lasts several weeks, but it
can be tailored to meet partici-
pants' needs and schedules. Fu-
ture docents can complete their
training at their own pace. Once
they have finished the program,
they can choose the day or days
on which they would like to
serve.
Needed are adults with a few
daytime hours to give each
month. Anyone interested should
call HMC administrator Selma
Silverman, (810) 661-0840.
