Fact is, more Americans
may die by the fork than by
any other weapon. That's
because so many of them
use it irresponsibly. Like
to fill up on high-fat, high-
cholesterol foods. Foods
that can load the blood with
cholesterol, which can build
up plaque in their arteries,
increasing their risk of
heart attacks and threaten-
ing their lives. So next time
you pick up a fork, remem-
ber to handle it as you
would any other weapon.
For self-defense, not
self-destruction.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD

The Planned Parenthood of
Southeast Michigan paid tribute
to former Detroiter Mary Fish-
er last week at Temple Beth El.
Ms. Fisher is the founder of the
Family AIDS Network Inc.
(FAN), a national nonprofit
organization increasing the
awareness of HIV and AIDS.
"It's remarkable for a 40-
year-old Jewish woman to
come home for a tribute," said
Ms. Fisher to a sold-out
crowd of 600 patrons. Her fa-
ther, Max Fisher, was also
in the audience.
Ms. Fisher gave a person-
al and poignant speech about
AIDS. In addition to educat-
ing the public on AIDS, men-
tioning the work that needs
to be done and the staggering
statistics, she told of her per-
sonal plight of being HIV-pos-
