Conference Set
On Disabilities

Kadima will host the Third Con-
ference on Adults with Psychi-
atric Disabilities at Temple Beth
El on Wednesday, May 31, at 7
p.m. "Chronic Schizophrenia:
Hope and Choices: will feature
Lori Schiller, author of The Quiet
Room. Lori Schiller and her
mother, Nancy, will share a Jew-
ish family's perspective, offering
a look into the experience of psy-
chosis.
The panel discussion will be
joined by Dr. Elliot Luby, a pro-
fessor of psychiatry and law at
Wayne State University; and Dr.
Leonard Lachover, staff psychi-
atrist at Sinai Hospital. Prior to
the conference, Lori Schiller will
attend book signing at Barnes
and Noble at Telegraph and
Maple.
Kadima, the sponsor of the
event, is a non-profit, non-sec-
tarian mental health agency, pro-
viding programs and services to
men and women with psychiatric
disabilities.

Torah Center
Sets Activities

Bais Chabad Torah Center will
be conducting a three-week sum-
mer program for teen-age boys,
13-15, beginning July 5. The pro-
gram will take place every day
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will in-
clude athletic activities, Torah
study, swimming, and outings.

Mr. Zelig Spillman of the
Toronto Orthodox Connection
will be in the metro Detroit area
on Sunday, May 14. Orthodox
Connection is a matchmaking
service centered in Toronto which
extends to all major cities in
Canada and the United States.
Clients pay a processing fee of
$180 on registration. Following
an interview and a reference
check, the potential matches are
