n conjunction with the Irwin I. Cohn Memori-
al Lectures in Talmudic Law and Ethics and Peggy Kaltenbach
Samaritan Care, the Maple-Drake Jewish Community Center will host a
panel discussion of "Hospice and Judaism," Sunday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m.
The featured speakers will be Dr. Fred Rosner, director of medicine for
Sinai Medical School; Norman Pappas, financial planner and CEO of the En-
terprise group in Southfield; and Peggy Kaltenbach, clinical psychologist and
bereavement counselor for William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. The
evening will be moderated by Warren Pierce of WJBK Channel 2. There is
no charge for the lecture.
The Irwin I. Cohen Memorial Series in Talmudic Law and Ethics is un-
der the auspices of the Lubavitch Foundation of Michigan. The purpose of
the series is to to interface modern jurisprudence and medical ethics and an-
cient Talmudic and halachic codes.

he American Arabic and Jewish Friends of Metropol-
itan Detroit, a program of the Greater Detroit Inter-
faith Round Table, will host its 9th Annual Scholarship
Banquet, 5 p.m., Sunday, June 11, at the Northfield Hilton
Hotel, 5500 Crooks Road, Troy.
The dinner, which raises funds for college scholarships
for Arabic and Jewish high school seniors, will present
1995 Community Service Awards to David Adamany, pres-
ident, Wayne State University; and Jack Robinson, presi-
dent Rite Aide of Michigan (formerly Perry Drug Stores).
Tickets for the event are $75 per person, $125 scholarship
patron, or $750 for a Table of 10. Interested persons should

The Round Table of The National Conference is a non-
profit organization that sponsors programs on cultural and
ethnic awareness, youth programs, community/police ed-
ucation programs and other interfaith activities.

he groundbreaking ceremony for the
expansion of the Bais Chabad Torah
Center will be held on Sunday, May
21, at 4:30 p.m. on the newly purchased
land adjacent to the Torah Center; it will
be followed by a light supper.
The 5000 square-foot addition will dou-
ble the size of the present building and
will include a new chapel and classrooms,
and an expanded sanctuary and social
hall.
The Torah Center annual dinner, cel-
ebrating the 20th anniversary of its exis-
tence, will take place on Monday, June
13, 6:30 p.m. at the Maple-Drake Com-
munity Center. Dinner honorees will be
Josef and Amira Skoczylas and
Jack and Edith Wolf. Mr.
Skoczylas and Mr. Wolf have
served as past presidents of the
Bais Chabad, and Mrs. Skoczy-
las as sisterhood vice president.
The guest speaker at the din-
ner will be Rabbi Chaim Bomz-
er, spiritual leader of Young
Israel of Ocean Parkway in
Brooklyn, N.Y., who will pay a
special tribute to the late
Lubavitcher Rebbe.
